Fall Fad: 5 Favorite Owl Finds!

I’m not sure how or when, but I’ve become OBSESSED with owls.  It probably has something to do with their enormous popularity right now.  Yes, if you haven’t noticed, a huge fad this fall is Owls.  The best part about the fad, is that they’re CUTE owls with big awesome eyes, and sweet demeanors.  They’re everywhere – from necklaces, to soap dispensers.  I’ve got a small collection gathering in my kitchen decor, and keep finding more items I’m in love with. In no particular order, here are my 5 Favorite Owl Finds:

1) Yellow & Gray Owl Pillow with Chevron Stripes

Owl Pillow by whimsysweetwhimsy

Hello ADORABLE!  This cutie-pie is 12″x11″ and filled with poly-fil 100% premium polyester fiberfill.  It’s the only one of its kind, sold by whimsysweetwhimsy, but lucky for us, it has brothers and sisters of equal cuteness!  I can just picture it perched on my couch, brining sweet fall colors to my living room.  LOVE IT!

2). Cooking Owl Day Apron

Cooking Owl Day Apron from ModCloth

You know I’m already addicted to ModCloth, and now I have even more of a reason!  With this sweet apron, spending time in the kitchen will be a hoot! Get it? HOOT! Cheers for puns! Ah, I kill myself… Anyway I love the pattern, and the chocolate and robin-egg blue hues together. The touch of lime green makes this to-die-for.  I can just imagine this hanging in my kitchen… Someone please disable my PayPal account!

3) Owl Soap Sleeve

Owl Soap Sleeve from Bath & Body Works

Now this I actually have already.  I never paid much attention to the Soap Sleeves from Bath & Body Works – usually I was too distracted by the awesome 6 for $20.00 deals – but this one caught my eye, naturally.  I stock up on these soaps to last me the whole year, and this sleeve is the perfect accessory.  It’s currently perched on my kitchen sink, and fits easily over my fall-scented foaming soaps.  It’s a great and inexpensive way to bring this trend into your home.

4) Liz Claiborne Owl Ring

Liz Claiborne Owl Ring from JcPenney

This owl ring by Liz Claiborne for JcPenney is a fantastic fall accessory!  I love the cute eyes and purple and pink stones.  It also has a stretchy band, so it’ll fit any finger on your hands.  It’s definitely a statement piece, and would pair perfectly with everything – from an LBD to a white tee and jeans. The best part? It’s only $10.00!

5) Owl Coaster Set

Owl Letterpress Coasters from LuckyBeePress

Nobody likes water rings, so these cute coasters are here to save the day! They are hand-printed on heavy weight coaster stock by LuckyBeePress.  Each coaster measures 3 1/2″ in diameter, and they’re really inexpensive.  The Etsy description says they’re great for a hostess gift, and I couldn’t agree more!

Wedding Wednesday: Claire Pettibone Bridal Gowns

Happy Wedding Wednesday!

Last week, I stumbled across Claire Pettibone’s website and fell head-over-heels for her dreamy, vintage-inspired couture designs. With ornate details, whimsical fabrics, touches of color, and delicate glamour – these gowns are perfect for a bride who’s looking for a unique dress that’s sure to make a lasting impression.

Pettibone has three collections: Windsor Rose China, Beau Monde, and Continuing Collection.  Like each dress, each collection has its own voice, but all the gowns seamlessly inspire an aire of romance that cannot be ignored.  Think Old-Hollywood meets Pride and Prejudice meets 21st Century Glitz and Sex Appeal .  SWOON.

Addicted to ModCloth

It may come as no surprise, that I’m a bit of a Shopaholic.  Not full-on, mountains-of-credit-card-debt, going-into-withdrawls-if-I-don’t-get-to-the-mall Shopaholic, but I truly believe in Retail Therapy and that if a girl falls head over heels in love with clothes or other pretty things, she should just get them.

Over the last six months, I’ve discovered a new obsession with online shopping.  It’s like Christmas when the packages arrive, and the suspense of when you’ll get them is, well, addicting.  The love affair between the internet and my PayPal account truly took off when I re-discovered ModCloth.  I had heard about this site a few years back, but only recently have I come-to-know its total fabtasticness. (Coin that ish).

ModCloth is a lovely mix of independently designed pieces and one-of-a-kind vintage finds all perfectly packaged on a groovy and easy-to-use website.  The business was started by a couple Carnegie Mellon University students, when founder Susan Gregg Koger, and her boyfriend (now husband) Eric Koger started selling the vintage and thrift shop garments she had been collecting.  Since then, ModCloth has grown into a company that services nearly 4.5 million shoppers a month – including this girl!

I love their pieces, because you just can’t find things like theirs at the mall.  Everything is beautifully crafted, fashion-forward, and come with the CUTEST names.

So far, I’m the proud owner of:

(Hmm. I just noticed my recent affinity for a cool color palette. )  ModCloth carries women’s clothing and accessories – from underwear to fun-to-wear, and have a lot of Indie-inspired household items, gifts, and more.  I’m currently pining away for this awesome cutting board…

Can you see now why I’m so in love!? And the best part… there are new things added EVERY SINGLE DAY.  So not only am I hooked because I love the products, but it’s now part of my daily routine to hit up ModCloth.com and check out the newbies.  If that’s not a sign of a fantastic and genius company, I don’t know what is!

Have you purchased anything from ModCloth?  What’s your favorite online shopping site?

TypeF.com

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a fun weekend! I spent mine playing wedding singer at my coworker’s wedding on Saturday, and had WAY too much fun with my crazy colleagues! I spent yesterday recuperating 🙂

Last week was a busy one, and I missed blogging regularly.  Ever dedicated, I kept on researching fun things to share with you, and came across something I’ve been dying to tell you about.  It’s called TypeF.com – a groundbreaking website offering women personalized beauty and fashion tips from the one, and only, Tyra Banks!

The website was started as part of Ms. Banks tireless efforts to redefine beauty. TypeF is a ” is a community built on the celebration of diversity and the ideal of  empowering women to be their very best.”  Sounds fantastic, right?  — It IS!

When you sign up, you start creating your personal profile by defining your face shape, skin type, hair type etc. – You’re provided with descriptions and celebrity examples to choose your exact look, so it’s really easy! Once your profile is completed, you end up with a library of articles based off your profile.  For instance, I mentioned I have dark circles under my eyes, so I now have 5 different articles to teach me how to reduce them!  It doesn’t just end there… my homepage reads that I have 2,693 articles and 384 videos at my disposal, personalized just for me!

There are over 500 professionals contributing and utilizing the “platform,” so they’re able to know what we women are searching for and can address individual needs (like those awful black circles!) The site is complete with “Beauty School” where there are tips and DIYs to get your favorite looks in hair, makeup, nails and skin care, endless fashion tips and articles and so much more to empower us to feel BEAUTIFUL.

I’m still searching and learning my way around the site, but you must check it out!  It’s like having Tyra as our own personal beautician.. and love her or hate her, you can’t deny that with over 25 years of experience in the modeling and entertainment world, she’s gotta know what she’s talking about!

Let me know if you try it out!

Make Way for Ombre! Part III

Happy Friday Lovelies! I hope you’re having a great one!

Today is the last installment of Make Way for Ombre, and today it’s all about great fashion ombre looks you can get for yourself (or put on your Christmas list of course)! Yaaay!

Let’s get right into it, eh? (Eh? When did I become Canadian? I’ve been watching too much Penguins hockey haha). Anywhooo, this first two looks are from Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s.

The first pink tiered dress is what turned my attention to this shady trend.  Though the light chiffon fabric and pale color palette definitely summons summertime thoughts, I think it could be sported all winter long with some chunky black jewelry and a classic black blazer. It features a keyhole and button accent in the back.  Right now, it’s on sale for $41.60 on the Kohl’s website!

I’m in love with the polka-dotted take on ombre.  I think this dress would be perfect for Christmas, don’t you?  It also features a keyhole accent in the back, complete with a bow.  Lauren suggests wearing it with black platform heels. It too is on sale for $44.20 at Kohls.com. Gotta love sales!!

I think every girl should have a sparkly mini-skirt for special occasions. Including me! I’ve got my eye on this ombre-fied mini from H&M.  It looks great paired with a light loose cami or tucked in cotton blouse.  And guess what?! ITS ONLY $19.95! God bless H&M and they’re super affordable prices!

And speaking of great deals.. this ombre crochet tank is only $7.80 at JcPenney.com. WHAT? It also comes in aqua and black!

If you’re feeling especially crafty, check out this fantastic DIY from Michael Ann Made on how to creat your own ombre looks like these:

Check out these awesome ombre accessories too!

Clockwise from top left: Long Jet Ombre Necklace from White House Black Market; $78.00 / Raspberry Pleated Scarf on Amazon.com; $18.99 / Ombre Bauble Ring from White House Black Market; $24.49 / Vintage 1940s Umbrella from Benelei on Etsy; &78.00 / Blue Pendant from Combustion Glassworks on Etsy; $16.00 / Purple Pearl Cluster Bracelet from AMIdesigns on Etsy; $28.00 / Lime Green and Polka Dot Clutch from bellefiore2009 on Etsy; $46.00 / Vintage Rhinestone Drop Earrings from ParisenneGirl on Etsy; $17.00

There are so many ombre options in all major retail stores right now and as you can see, you don’t have drain your bank account to get this trendy look! If you find a picture of something you love, please share it with me in the comments section!

What’s your favorite ombre look from this post?

I hope you enjoyed Ombre Week, and I wish you all a safe and happy weekend!
